Imagine this: by the time the students entering primary school this year graduate from university, it will be 2032. Exactly what the world will be like in 2032 is beyond anyone’s imagination. According to a report by World Economic Forum, 85 million existing jobs will be obsolete by only 2025, but 97 million new opportunities will be available in the form of jobs that do not yet exist.
The epidemic has taught us many new things. One of the most important lessons is that to face the challenges of the 21st century, merely mastering specialised subject knowledge will not be enough; we must get used to collaboration, continuous learning and, more importantly, becoming the owners of our own learning and being creative actors of change! As the future is uncertain, teachers must take on more diversified roles and must design more student-centred learning experiences in response to the range of learning needs and paths of different students.
