Ms Karen Lee
Ms Karen Lee, Project Manager (II) Spatial, Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, PolyU
Karen is a Chartered Town Planner and Project Manager specialising in urban integration and city management strategies. She has rich experience leading strategic infrastructure projects and placemaking schemes, including the Elizabeth Line and High Speed 2 project in the UK and the Walk DVRC initiative in Hong Kong. Since joining in 2018, Karen has focused on encouraging cross-sector, multi-disciplinary collaboration and application of PolyU’s applied research in tackling the “double ageing” challenge in Hong Kong. She co-authored the “Tackling Double Ageing with Double Smart” paper with our Director, and is JCDISI’s Project Lead and Subject Matter Expert in Transitional Social Housing, Intergenerational Play Space and Community Planning and Elderly-friendly Smart Neighbourhood.
Mr Alan Cheung
Mr Alan Cheung, Co-founder and Managing Director, One Bite Design Studio and One Bite Social
Alan Cheung is a Co-founder and Managing Director of One Bite Design Studio and One Bite Social. He is a registered architect in Hong Kong with more than 10 years of working experience in New York, London, and Hong Kong. Since setting up One Bite in 2014 and with branch office in Singapore, he advocates on the human-centred design approach to build places through interconnecting people.
Currently he is the Chairman of Architects Regional Council of Asia (ARCASIA) Committee under The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and the Co-Chairman of The Chinese University Architecture Alumni Association. He has been actively involving various placemaking events in ASEAN region especially Singapore and Malaysia. He was shortlisted for the Young Architect Award by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in 2015 and has been awarded “40 Under 40” in the Architecture category by Perspective Magazine in 2018.
Ms Catherine Wan
Ms Catherine Wan, Assistant General Manager (Elderly Services), Hong Kong Housing Society
Catherine Wan is a registered social worker specialises in gerontology, currently working at the Hong Kong Housing Society as Assistant General Manager of the Elderly Services Section. She is responsible for the overall management of the Senior Citizen Residences Scheme, which is a housing scheme with comprehensive care tailored for the middle-income retired persons to achieve ageing in place. Besides, Catherine also assists the Housing Society in planning and developing new elderly housing projects. In the previous years, she supervised the Elderly Resources Centre and participated in the development of the Ageing-in-Place Scheme, which is now operating in all rental estates of the Housing Society.
Before joining the Housing Society, Catherine worked in the social welfare sector for many years. The responsibilities included the management, planning and development of children and youth services, family services, homecare support services, community care services for the elderly and nursing home services.
Mr Federick Ng
Mr Frederick Ng, Senior Manager (Property Management), Hong Kong Housing Society
Mr Frederick Ng has been engaging in the property and facility management field for over thirty years. He possesses extensive experience in managing both public and private sector developments. He is now serving as a Senior Manager (Property Management) at the Hong Kong Housing Society.
Frederick is a Registered Professional Housing Manager under the Housing Managers Registration Board and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Moreover, he contributes to the property management industry by taking up the roles as a council member of the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies and an Executive Committee member of the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch.
Mr Patrick Tsang
Mr Patrick Tsang, General Manager (Planning & Development), Hong Kong Housing Society
Mr Tsang obtained the professional qualifications as the Associated Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors in 1984. He was elected as the Fellow Member of both institutions in 1992. Mr Tsang has more than 35 years post qualification experiences in both public and private sectors covering property valuation, property development, property acquisition, sale and leasing, urban renewal and land administration. He has been working in the Hong Kong Housing Society since 1994 and his current post in HKHS is General Manager (Planning & Development) of the Development and Marketing Division, responsible for Retirement Housing Development Strategy, Senior Citizen Residences Scheme Quality Retirement Housing Scheme, Public Rental Housing Scheme, Subsidized Public Housing Sale Scheme, new housing initiatives and land administration. He is also the Member of the Advisory Board of the Ageing Asia International Forum, Singapore.
Ms Sanne Fong
Ms Sanne Fong, Vice President, Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association
Ms Sanne Fong graduated from Faculty of Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1988. She started her career in local public hospitals since 1989. Sanne is Registered Occupational Therapist in Hong Kong and USA. She also completed her M.Phil degree in CUHK in 1977. She has visited famous renowned centres in USA, Canada, UK for post-graduate training and attachment. Sanne has served patients in Prince of Wales Hospital, Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital with special interests in burn rehabilitation, paediatric and adolescent health since graduate. She took the responsibility as Clinical Educator in training of OT students in BSc & MSc degrees from 2012 to 2015. Now, she is working in Hong Kong Children’s Hospital as Senior Occupational Therapist. Sanne understands the importance of evidence-based practice, she keeps on improving the quality of occupational therapy service with quite a number of publications.
In addition to the clinical services, Sanne is appointed as Adjunct Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences of HKPU. Further, she is also Vice Chairperson of the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association, Hon. Treasurer of the Hong Kong Society of Children’s Palliative Care, and Communication Officer of the Hong Kong Paediatric Foundation. Working for Child health advocate with a believing that everyone can lead the life to its fullest.
Dr Tulio Maximo
Dr Tulio Maximo, Assistant Professor, School of Design, PolyU
Dr Tulio Maximo is an award-winning Brazilian designer and ergonomist with expertise in Human-Centred and Inclusive Design. He holds a Master and a PhD degree from Loughborough University in the UK. Dr Maximo PhD research had focused on translating current good practices in assistive technology and wheelchair services into the Brazilian healthcare services.
His work had received a number of awards from institutions such as IDSA, Banco do Brasil and Royal College of Arts. His award-winning designs include products, services, and social enterprises, including the Ciranda chair for disabled toddlers. Dr Maximo has received funding from Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), Prêmio Fundação Banco do Brasil de Tecnologia Social, and Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (FINEP).
Before Joining PolyU school of Design Dr Maximo worked as a product designer at Instituto Noisinho da Silva and an associate lecturer in Sketching, Service Design, and Ergonomics at Loughborough University.
